The Start Running Group works by following a proven program that slowly builds a solid foundation for running.

Over 13 weeks, participants will follow the program and train three times a week that builds from 20 minutes (in the first few weeks) up to an hour in duration (in later weeks) in a group environment that is made up of beginner runners, previous runners, volunteer assistants and SRG leaders.

Everyone runs in the group together, and we cater to a variety of running speeds and abilities by directing turnarounds within the group while running. This allows the group to remain cohesive, social and supportive of each other while running.

Goals

The Start Running Group has two goals: running 5km non-stop at week 8 and 10km non-stop at week 13. These milestones are celebrated together as a whole club where running groups in Gisborne, Kyneton, Lancefield-Romsey, Macedon, Riddells Creek and Woodend join forces and achieve and celebrate their running milestones together.

The Macedon Ranges Running Club Inc. organises the running course at one of the township areas and is followed by a big breakfast afterwards. Family and friends are invited to cheer participants over the finishing line and enjoy breakfast together.

Testimonials

SRG changed my life and has had a ripple effect throughout my personal and working life. The leaders have a gift and shared that with me, so that now I live a healthy lifestyle. I feel truly blessed.

Lynda, Riddells Creek
