What is SRG?

SRG or Start Running Program is the Macedon Ranges Running Club program to get you moving if you have never run before, if you have taken a break from running or if you just want to hang out with a lovely group of people in the beautiful Macedon Ranges!

The Start Running Group works by following a proven program that slowly builds a solid foundation for running.

The Start Running Group has a main goal - running 5km non-stop after nine weeks of training.  This milestone is celebrated together as a whole club where running groups in Gisborne, Kyneton, Lancefield-Romsey, Macedon, Riddells Creek and Woodend join forces and achieve and celebrate this amazing running milestone together.

The Macedon Ranges Running Club Inc. organises the running course at one of the township areas and is followed by a big breakfast afterwards. Family and friends are invited to cheer participants over the finishing line and enjoy breakfast together.

Over 9 weeks, participants will follow the program, training three times a week, that builds from 20 minutes (in the first few weeks) up to an hour in duration (in later weeks) in a group environment that is made up of beginner runners, previous runners, volunteer assistants and SRG leaders.

Everyone runs in the group together, and we cater to a variety of running speeds and abilities by directing turnarounds within the group while running. This allows the group to remain cohesive, social and supportive of each other while running.

(Whilst we welcome all ages to participate, unaccompanied minors (under 18 years of age) are not permitted.  Any person under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a responsible adult who is also a member)
